The AFA’s Environmental Management System is registered to the ISO 14001 standard. The Environmental Management System (EMS) provides a framework for planning, implementing and monitoring sustainable forestry operations in Algonquin Park. Key components of the EMS are compliance to applicable laws, regulations, policies and standards, prevention of pollution and continual improvement. The system also provides the AFA with improved emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
Algonquin Forestry Authority was first registered to the ISO 14001 Standard in December, 2001. The Environmental Management System is audited annually by a Registrar to ensure ongoing conformance with the ISO Standard. In addition, the system is subject to a re-registration audit every three years.
