Almaguin Highlands SS bursary recipient

Co-op student receives bursary

Bob and AddieAFA’s Bob Coleman presents Addison Lemkay with a $500 Forest Industry Bursary on behalf of AFA’s board of directors, clients and staff on Thursday, June 26th.

Addison has been accepted in the Forestry Technician program at Fleming College in Lindsay, On.  She has also been a co-op student with AFA since February.

AFA Sponsors Envirothon

Envirothon collage test    AFA recently sponsored 6 schools in the Algonquin region to compete in a province-wide Envirothon event.  Teams from North Bay, Renfrew, Muskoka/Haliburton and Lanark competed in the 4 day event held in May at Fleming College in Lindsay, ON.   They were invited to explore issues of local and sustainable agriculture throughout the competition and also contributed to the Fleming College Community Garden. 

    Students from the 5 winning schools in Ontario are pictured at left:  École Secondaire Catholique de Plantagenet, Roland Michener Secondary School, Notre Dame Catholic High School, College Catholique Samuel Genest and W. C. Eaket Secondary School.
